Summer Camp Packing List 

What you need to wear when we leave on Sunday morning?

  • Scout Uniform (we travel in full uniform) 
  • Hiking boots 

Medications

  • Turn over all medications to troop medical officer on Sunday morning 
  • If needed, medication must be in original container w/prescription label and placed in a Ziploc bag with your daughter’s name on it 
  • Have just enough medication for the week
  • Medication must be listed on your daughter’s medical form 
  • Over-the-counter meds must also be turned into troop medical officer in a separate Ziploc bag. 

Sleeping Gear

  • We camp in canvas wall tents on platforms with spring cots 
  • Sleeping pad NOT an air mattress
  • Sleeping bag (it may get cool at night) 

What to Pack?

  • Backpack (no rolling luggage or footlockers) 
  • Underwear (1 per day minimum) 
  • T-shirts (1 per day) * 
  • Long sleeved shirt, swear shirt and/or light jacket ** 
  • Long pants (1 – 2 pair) ** 
  • Shorts (3 pair) 
  • Swim suit (2 pair) 
  • Beach Towel 
  • Socks (1 pair per day) 
  • Hat 
  • Sleeping wear 
  • Rain gear (rain jacket with pants is the best) 
  • Hiking boots 
  • Sneakers or extra pair of shoes
  • Sheet for hot nights 
  • Camp pillow 
  • Optional: mosquito netting with poles to support it and string to attach it to the cot 
  • Water shoes (no open toe shoes) 
  • OA Sash for Order of the Arrow Members
  • Personal First Aid Kit 
  • Flashlight w/ extra batteries 
  • Pocket Knife 
  • Watch 
  • Scout handbook with pen & note pad packed in Ziploc bag 
  • Merit Badge books 
  • Notebook or notepad with pen / pencil 
  • Personal toiletries including toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hand towel, comb 
  • Bath towel 
  • Insect repellent (no aerosol cans) 25 
  • Sunscreen 
  • Water bottle 
  • Ground cloth (waterproof light nylon or medium plastic slightly larger than sleeping bag) 
  • Money for the Trading Post 
  • Extra money for the Trading Post 
  • Piece of rope for clothesline 
  • Daypack
  • OPTIONAL: Writing paper, envelopes, stamps 
  • OPTIONAL: Fishing pole and gear 
  • OPTIONAL: Swim goggles 
  • OPTIONAL: Camera (no cell phone cameras) **** 

Everything you bring MUST fit in the Backpack and day pack. Your daughter will need to carry it from the parking lot to the campsite. We do not drive to the campsite. 

NOTE: PACK YOUR SWIM GEAR AT THE TOP OF YOUR BACKPACK. 

The first thing we do at camp is take a Swim Test. 

* Do not bring clothing that features product, symbols, or language that is inconsistent with the scouting values.

 ** For those taking the Swimming Merit Badge you will need to pack a pair of long pants (no jeans) and a long sleeve shirt. 

*** Make sure that you put your daughter’s name on everything 

**** The leaders take lots of pictures and will share them with the entire troop at the end of the trip. 

What NOT to Bring?

  • Electronics, iPod, iPad, tablets, DS, etc. 
  • Expensive jewelry or expensive clothes 
  • Tobacco of any kind, liquor, drugs, etc. 
  • Sheath knives, switchblades, box cutters, throwing knives or discs 
  • Anything that can not be replaced if you lose it
